The Effect of Exercise therapy on Glucose Metabolism in Steptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The study was conducted to compare the effects of exercise-therapy on glucose metabolism in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
The subjects of this study were about 250g old male rats of sprague-Dewley
family.
The selected rats were randomly divided into normal control (n=7), Diabetic control (n--9), Diabetic endurance exercise (n=7) and Diabetic power exercise (n=9). The exercise group were trained for 6-weeks on a rat treadmill.
The following results were observed;
1. body weight was significantly (p<0.05) increased after treadmill exercise for 6-weeks in normal control and Diabetic endurance exercise. However, significantly decreased (p<0.05) in Diabetic control and Diabetic power exercise.
2. fasting blood glucose level was significantly (pNevertheless, glucose tolerance was more effectively improvement by endurance exercise than power exercise.
